Hamas Calls for Ceasefire Amid Ongoing Conflict

Hamas has expressed its willingness to enter into a ceasefire with Israel, contingent upon certain conditions being met. The group demands a lasting ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the return of displaced Palestinians, and a prisoner exchange. Internally, there is a divide within Gaza concerning Hamas's actions. A fatwa by a respected Salafi scholar condemning the October 7 attack highlights differing opinions among the population. Despite some support for Hamas, there is also a significant portion of Gazans who are dissatisfied with the group's governance but fear speaking out. The ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis continue to draw international attention and criticism.
