Zelenskiy's Visit to UK Cabinet: Strengthening Ukraine's Defense Against Russia's Oil Sales

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy made history by becoming the first foreign leader to address the UK cabinet since Bill Clinton in 1997. The meeting focused on discussing the ongoing military conflict with Russia and finding ways to prevent Russian oil tankers from evading sanctions.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer welcomed Zelenskiy and discussed a defense export support treaty to enhance Ukraine's military capabilities. Zelenskiy urged European leaders to remain united against Russian aggression and emphasized the importance of stronger measures to deter Russia's oil exports.

The UK committed to long-term military aid for Ukraine, with Defence Secretary John Healey announcing £3.5 billion in funding to support Ukraine's armed forces. While the UK expressed its support for Ukraine, it clarified that it would not assist in direct attacks on Russia.

However, defensive missile use within the framework of international law is not ruled out. The UK also pledged to tackle the 'phantom fleet' of Russian oil tankers.

The visit signifies the UK's commitment to supporting Ukraine's defense and its efforts to counter Russian aggression.
