US Reaffirms 'Iron Support' for Israel After Attack on Golan Heights

The US government has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Israel following an attack on a Druze village in the occupied Golan Heights. A spokesperson for the National Security Council in Washington stated that their support for Israel's security against Iran-backed terrorist groups, including Hezbollah, is of the utmost priority.

The attack occurred when a rocket was fired from Lebanon and landed on a football field in the Druze village of Majdal Shams, resulting in the deaths of eleven children and young adults, as well as injuring nineteen others.

Israel's President Isaac Herzog blamed Hezbollah terrorists for the attack, although the Hezbollah militia denied any involvement. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a strong military response to the assault.

The EU's Foreign Affairs Chief, Josep Borrell, called for an independent international investigation into the incident, describing the images as shocking and urging all parties to exercise restraint to avoid further escalation. This attack raises concerns about the potential for a broader conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, with both sides preparing for a possible confrontation.
