Israeli Rescue Service: Nine Dead in Rocket Attack from Lebanon on the Golan Heights

A rocket attack from Lebanon on the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights has resulted in the death of nine people, with 34 others injured. The Israeli rescue service reported that the attack directly hit the area of Madschdal Schams.

The Hezbollah militia, allied with Hamas, has been firing rockets on northern Israel almost daily since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas. Israel holds the strategically important Golan Heights, occupied and annexed since 1967, but the international community does not recognize the annexation.

In a separate incident, a rocket strike in Majdal Shams killed 12 children aged 10-16. Hezbollah, an Iran-backed Lebanese militant group, is blamed for the attack.

Israel has responded with a restrained initial strike on Lebanon. This incident has raised concerns of a possible Israeli attack on Hezbollah, with Lebanon already facing a severe economic and political crisis.

Hezbollah has evacuated positions in south and east Lebanon following Israeli threats, indicating tensions in the region.
