Russia captures another village in eastern Ukraine
Russia has reportedly captured another village in eastern Ukraine. The village of Losuwatske in the Donetsk region has been 'liberated', according to the Russian defense ministry.
The Ukrainian defense ministry stated that the Ukrainian army had repelled 37 Russian attacks in the Pokrovsk area. Heavy fighting is currently taking place near the village of Novooleksandrivka, just two kilometers from Losuwatske.
Russian airstrikes have also targeted the city of Myrnohrad and the city of Kurakhove, causing injuries to at least five people. The head of the Donetsk regional administration, Vadym Filashkin, posted photos of the aftermath of the attacks, showing a residential building with shattered windows and debris on the streets.
In addition to the ongoing conflict, there have been reports of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian regions, and Russia claiming to have destroyed Ukrainian drones. It is important to note that the Ukrainian army is outnumbered and facing ammunition shortages, and is in urgent need of increased weapons and ammunition supplies from its Western partners.
Amidst the fighting, Ukraine's participation in the Olympics has been seen as a symbol of resilience and an opportunity to draw attention to the situation in the country.
