Report: Apple Intelligence Delayed for iOS 18.1
Apple's artificial intelligence features, including Apple Intelligence, will be delayed for the upcoming iPhone and iPad software overhauls. The AI features are set to arrive a few weeks after the initial releases of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, with developers gaining access via iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 betas.
Apple Intelligence, powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT and integrated with Siri, may miss the initial iOS 18 rollout, but will offer features such as text/audio summarization and custom graphics generation for iPhone, Macbook, and iPad. The delay is due to EU tech rules, which require Apple to ensure compatibility with rival products and services.
Elon Musk has even threatened to ban Apple devices at his companies if ChatGPT is integrated at the OS level. Despite the delay, Apple remains committed to advancing its artificial intelligence capabilities, as it announced its AI push in June.
