Trump Agrees to TV Debate with Challenger Harris on September 4
Donald Trump has agreed to a TV debate with Kamala Harris, the expected Democratic presidential candidate, in the US election campaign. Trump announced the debate on his platform Truth Social, stating that it will take place on September 4 and will be hosted by Fox News.
It is unclear whether Harris has also agreed to the TV duel. President Joe Biden withdrew from the race for the White House after a disastrous performance in the first televised debate on July 21. He subsequently endorsed Harris as the new Democratic candidate.
A debate between Trump and Biden was previously scheduled for September 10, but it is expected to be replaced by a debate with Harris instead. The 59-year-old is now almost certain to challenge Trump in the US presidential election on November 5.
