Russia claims Ukraine is trying to improve its negotiating position and destabilize Russia through an offensive in the Kursk region, but Putin says Russia will respond and is confident the offensive will not succeed. Ukraine's forces have made gains in the Kursk region, controlling 28 settlements and claiming 1,000 sq km, causing the evacuation of thousands of civilians.

The situation remains tense, with ongoing air attacks and battles near gas flow and key areas. Russia has responded with its own attacks and has ordered the expulsion of Ukrainian troops.

The international community is deeply concerned about the escalating conflict and fears a broader war. The US is worried about Iran potentially supplying missiles to Russia, while Poland has signed a contract for the production of Patriot missile launchers.

The situation is fluid, with severe fighting also continuing in the Donbass region. President Zelensky stresses the need to force Russia to peace, while Putin accuses Ukraine of aggression and vows a strong response.
