Italian Journalists Return Home After Russian Threats

Two Italian reporters, Stefania Battistini and Simone Traini, have returned to Italy after facing threats from Russia. The RAI broadcaster stated that the decision was made to ensure their personal safety.

The reporters had been covering the Ukrainian troops' capture of parts of the Russian region of Kursk. The Russian Foreign Ministry had previously summoned the Italian ambassador to complain about the reporters' illegal border crossing.

The Russian domestic intelligence service FSB has initiated investigations against the journalists. In other news, the Ukrainian air force has released a video showing the destruction of a vital bridge in the Russian region of Kursk.

The bridge in Glushkovo was a key connection to the southern side of the Seim, making it more difficult to recapture the Ukrainian-held areas. Furthermore, the German government may provide new aid payments for Ukraine until funds are distributed from international programs.

The Federal Ministry of Finance has expressed readiness to examine the provision of additional funds. However, concrete notification of additional needs is required.

Russia's state nuclear agency Rosatom has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency about the worsening situation around the Kursk and Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plants. The agency has also been invited to visit the affected regions.
