Fire continues at Russian oil depot hit by Ukrainian drone strike
A massive fire has been burning for three days at an oil depot in Proletarsk, Rostov region, following a drone strike by Ukraine. The attack, claimed by Ukraine, was aimed at undermining Russia's military and economic potential.
Ukraine's forces have also occupied a significant portion of the Kursk region, capturing Russian prisoners. In response, Russia has attempted to build temporary bridges and showcased the bodies of soldiers and damaged Ukrainian vehicles in the Kursk region.
The conflict escalated further with a Russian drone destroying a Ukrainian howitzer, while SU-34 fighter jets struck a Ukrainian command post and ammunition depot. The firefighting efforts have been challenging, with 41 firefighters hospitalized due to injuries while battling the oil depot fire.
The fire has spread across 10,000 square meters, and over 500 firefighters and four aircraft are involved in extinguishing the flames. The situation remains tense as the fire continues to burn, and it is expected to take several more days to fully extinguish it.
Authorities have declared a state of emergency in the area.
