EU considers sanctions on Israeli ministers over Gaza war remarks
The EU foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, has proposed sanctions on some Israeli ministers due to their remarks during the Gaza war, which he believes violate international law. However, the 27 EU members are divided on this issue, with Italy's foreign minister calling the proposal unrealistic.
In the midst of the conflict, the World Health Organization (WHO), coordinated with Israeli authorities, announced a polio vaccination campaign for 640,000 children in Gaza. This campaign, involving UNICEF, UNRWA, and local partners, aims to address the first confirmed polio case in 25 years.
The vaccinations will be carried out during 'humanitarian pauses' in the fighting.
