Russia Advances on Strategically Important City in Eastern Ukraine
Russia continues its advance towards the strategically important city of Pokrowsk in eastern Ukraine, with reports of the capture of nearby villages. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj has described the situation in the region as extremely difficult, with intense fighting in several villages.
Russian forces have also launched air attacks on Ukraine, with numerous drones and missiles fired. In response, Ukraine has destroyed bridges and infrastructure, causing disruption to Russian logistics.
The Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region has tested the mettle of young Russian conscripts, who have been deployed to defend against the incursion. Despite calls from Ukraine for the US to provide long-range weapons, the US has refused to allow the use of such weapons, in order to avoid further escalation.
