Israel Ends Weeks-Long Military Operation in the South and Center of the Gaza Strip
Israel has concluded a weeks-long military operation in the southern and central parts of the Gaza Strip. The army announced on Friday that the operation in the areas of Khan Yunis and Deir el-Balah had been completed after about a month.
The fighting resulted in the deaths of 'more than 250 terrorists' and the destruction of 'terrorist infrastructure.' During the operation, the army discovered the bodies of six hostages who had been kidnapped by the radical Islamic group Hamas and taken to the Gaza Strip.
Residents who returned to Khan Yunis and Deir el-Balah reported widespread destruction, with houses destroyed and decaying bodies found. The Israeli offensive in Gaza, in response to a major Hamas attack in October, has resulted in over 40,600 deaths, according to the Hamas-controlled health ministry.
This marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has been ongoing for over ten months and has led to increased violence in the West Bank.
