SpaceX's 'Polaris Dawn' Mission: A Historic Journey to the Farthest Distance from Earth

SpaceX's 'Polaris Dawn' mission, led by billionaire Jared Isaacman, has launched with the aim of reaching the greatest distance from Earth by humans since the Apollo missions. On board the Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon capsule, the private astronauts are conducting experiments to prepare for long-term missions to the Moon and Mars.

This mission marks the first commercial spacewalk by nonprofessional astronauts and the first use of laser communications from SpaceX's Starlink network. The crew will travel in an oval-shaped orbit up to 870 miles and perform a spacewalk at 435 miles, lasting 20 minutes.

The mission also includes research on space radiation effects and Spaceflight Associated Neuro-Ocular Syndrome. Polaris Dawn is part of SpaceX's Polaris program, which aims to push the boundaries of private space exploration.
