Eruption of Ebeko Volcano in Russia

The Ebeko volcano on Paramushir island in the Northern Kurils erupted this morning, releasing an ash plume that reached 2.5 kilometers into the sky. This event, reported by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, marks a continuation of the volcano's activity, which has included regular ash emissions since October 2016. The ash cloud extended over five kilometers northeast of the volcano, yet there were no significant impacts reported in the nearby settlement of Severo-Kurilsk, located seven kilometers away.

Residents reported no sulfur odor or respiratory issues despite the eruption. The Ebeko volcano, standing at 1,156 meters, is a complex stratovolcano with multiple craters.

Fortunately, there are no international flight routes or tourist groups in the vicinity, minimizing potential hazards associated with volcanic activity. This latest eruption serves as a reminder of the dynamic geological processes occurring in this remote region.
