Severe Floods Trigger Mass Evacuations in Northern Italy

Northern Italy faces severe floods due to storm Anett, leading to the evacuation of around a thousand residents. Heavy rainfall has inundated regions like Emilia-Romagna and Marken, resulting in school closures and suspended train services.

This area experienced similar devastating floods last year, which claimed 24 lives. Residents, especially in Faenza, blame authorities for repeated inundations, with water levels reaching up to 1.5 meters in homes.

Regional President Irene Priolo assures that the current damage will not match last year's severity when 45,000 people were displaced. The storm has also impacted Central and Eastern Europe, causing fatalities in Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania.
