Protests Erupt Against A5 Expansion in Frankfurt

In Frankfurt, a significant protest against the proposed ten-lane expansion of the A5 has drawn thousands of demonstrators. Organized by the 'Stop A5 Expansion' alliance, the rally garnered support from over 60 organizations, advocating for a transport transition.

Speakers from various environmental groups highlighted concerns over increased traffic, pollution, and the detrimental effects on biodiversity. Even the ADAC Hessen-Thüringen voiced opposition, calling for the preservation of existing infrastructure instead.

Families joined the demonstration, expressing their desire for a climate-just future. Although the original plan to protest directly on the A5 was denied, participants took to an alternative route, demonstrating the strong public resistance to the expansion plans and underscoring the urgent need for sustainable transport solutions.
