Recognizing Social Initiatives for Child Protection and Violence Prevention
Recent awards have highlighted the exemplary efforts of social initiatives committed to child protection and violence prevention. The HanseMerkur Prize for Child Protection honored five organizations for their dedication to fostering values and combating bullying and violence.
The Helden-Verein secured the main prize for its 'Heldenakademie' project, while Aktion Zivilcourage, Bananenflankenliga, Dup15q e.V., and War Child Germany also received recognition. Since its inception, the prize has supported 183 projects with over 1.4 million euros, underscoring the importance of solidarity in turbulent times, according to Eberhard Sautter, Chairman of HanseMerkur's Executive Board.
In a similar vein, the Hessian Social Prize 2024 was awarded to 'HeRoes' from Offenbach for its work in discussing equality, violence prevention, and extremism with youth. Additional projects were also acknowledged, receiving a total of 30,000 euros in prize money.
These awards celebrate efforts towards societal cohesion and an inclusive community, emphasizing that individual contributions can make a significant impact. The Thüringer Democracy Prize continues this trend, recognizing civil engagement and promoting an open, tolerant daily culture with a prize of 6,000 euros.
