Saxony-Anhalt's Judicial Digitization Efforts

Saxony-Anhalt is making significant strides in digitizing its judiciary by developing a dedicated IT infrastructure. The introduction of electronic files in administrative, labor, and social courts is targeted for completion by 2026. Despite this progress, other federal states, such as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Lower Saxony, have advanced further in their digitization efforts.

Local, higher regional, and state courts are set to follow suit, although criminal courts and public prosecutor's offices currently lack compatibility with the new systems. The judiciary's transition to digital files has faced criticism regarding its timeline and the ongoing reliance on paper documents, leaving some courts struggling with functionality and efficiency.
