A8 Truck Accident Causes Major Disruption

A serious accident occurred early Saturday on the A8 near Bernau, involving a semi-trailer truck loaded with cheese and toast. The vehicle lost control, crashed into the central barrier, and overturned, scattering its cargo across the highway.

Recovery efforts are ongoing, with a full closure of the road looming as traffic towards Salzburg is being diverted. The incident resulted in significant damage estimated at around 200,000 euros.

The driver, a 48-year-old Greek national, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, as the left lane is currently closed, leading to growing traffic congestion.
