FDP Pushes for Stricter Migration Policies

The Free Democratic Party (FDP) in Germany is set to push for a more stringent migration policy through a proposed nine-point plan. This plan, as outlined in a recent media report, aims to significantly reduce support for asylum seekers who are required to leave the country. Specifically, the plan suggests cutting benefits for these individuals down to a minimum, termed the 'bed-soap-bread' level, with all other social benefits being stripped away except for a small allowance.

The FDP's intent is to remove any incentive for asylum seekers to remain in Germany if their applications have been rejected. Christian Dürr, the FDP parliamentary group leader, emphasized that this approach is necessary to ensure compliance with deportation orders. By adopting this tough stance, the FDP also aims to put pressure on their coalition partners, particularly the Greens, to adopt similar measures.

Furthermore, the FDP's plan incorporates proposals from states governed by black-green coalitions, which have already begun implementing stricter asylum policies.
