Germany and EU Tighten Asylum and Migration Policies

Germany's Interior Minister Nancy Faeser is spearheading changes to align national asylum laws with the evolving Common European Asylum System (CEAS). This initiative aims to streamline asylum procedures at the EU's external borders for migrants from countries with low protection rates. A solidarity mechanism will facilitate the redistribution of refugees among willing EU states.

The German government's security package, a reaction to recent violent incidents, proposes stricter asylum, immigration, and weapons laws.
