In an extraordinary tale of survival and tragedy, Mikhail Pichugin, a 46-year-old Russian, was found alive after drifting for 67 days in the frigid Sea of Okhotsk. The journey had begun on August 9 with his brother and teenage son, but sadly, only Pichugin survived. The trio set off from Khabarovsk towards Sakhalin Island, but disaster struck when their boat's engine failed, leaving them stranded in one of East Asia's stormiest seas.
Pichugin was discovered by a passing fishing boat on October 14, approximately 1,000 kilometers from their intended destination. By then, he had lost nearly half his body weight, weighing just 50 kilograms. Despite being emaciated and in serious condition, he was conscious when rescued. He is now receiving medical care at a hospital in Magadan.
