Russia's Intense Assault on Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure

Ukraine has faced one of the most severe air assaults by Russia since the conflict began, targeting crucial energy infrastructure. Ukrainian officials report that numerous missiles and drones struck various regions, including Kyiv, Mykolajiw, Kherson, Odessa, and Lwiw, resulting in power outages and casualties.

The attacks prompted Poland to deploy fighter jets, highlighting the failure of diplomatic efforts like German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's controversial call with Vladimir Putin. Scholz defended his conversation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining support for Ukraine and making Germany's stance clear to Putin.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that Ukraine's air defenses intercepted about 140 of the 210 rockets and drones launched by Russia. The Ukrainian government's criticism of attempts at "phone diplomacy" underscores the need for a unified and stronger response.
