Alarming Insights into Student Well-being

A recent study by the Robert Bosch Foundation reveals that over a quarter of students in Germany rate their quality of life as low. This concerning statistic is coupled with 21% reporting psychological distress, a figure that rises to 33% among those from low-income families.

Additionally, 20% express dissatisfaction with their school experience, with this number climbing to 30% for economically disadvantaged students. The study highlights frequent classroom disruptions and inadequate teacher feedback as significant issues.

Many students feel unsupported by their educators, with 41% noting that teachers do not assess their understanding effectively. The findings underscore the need for an educational paradigm shift, emphasizing individualized support and alternative assessment methods.

Despite improvements since the pandemic, student well-being remains below pre-pandemic levels. This comprehensive survey, part of the German School Barometer, aims to provide valuable insights for enhancing the educational environment.
