They stressed the importance of adhering to the commitments outlined in Resolution 2231. There was a clear critique of the previous US administration's maximum pressure policy against Iran and a call for lifting six sanctions under Resolution 2231. The statement emphasized 2025 as a pivotal year for Iran and criticized demands from European countries for Iran to engage in beyond-safeguards and Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) cooperation.
Meanwhile, some Western nations are attempting to pass an anti-Iranian resolution at the IAEA Board of Governors meeting. However, these efforts reportedly lack significant support. Iran has consistently allowed IAEA inspectors to visit its nuclear facilities, with no evidence of military diversion found. Iran remains committed to working with the IAEA under the comprehensive safeguards agreement, believing remaining issues are resolvable.
In parallel, there are diplomatic movements in the region, with Ali Larijani conveying messages from Iran's Supreme Leader to leaders in Syria and Lebanon. Amidst regional tensions, Iran continues to support Lebanon, while Western countries attempt to apply pressure on Iran through the IAEA. Larijani has suggested that the US should either return to the JCPOA or negotiate a new agreement under Iran's terms.
