Northvolt Seeks US Creditor Protection Amid Financial Struggles

The Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt has filed for creditor protection under US Chapter 11 bankruptcy laws to address its financial challenges. Despite these difficulties, construction of their battery factory in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, continues, remaining a strategic priority. Northvolt has secured a bridge loan of $100 million and access to $145 million in collateral, primarily from its partner, Scania.
