Namibia's Political Landscape: A Shifting Dynamic

Namibia's political scene is bracing for change as the 2024 elections draw near. The South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO), which has held power since the country gained independence in 1990, faces unprecedented challenges. The liberation movement is at risk of losing its grip, with the opposition, though fragmented, gaining traction.

Key players like the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) and the newly established leftist party, the Affirmative Repositioning (AR), are poised to contest SWAPO's dominance in parliament. The current Vice President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, is the ruling party's candidate, while former SWAPO member Panduleni Itula emerges as a promising opposition candidate.
