Tragic Sinking of Tourist Boat in the Red Sea

The 'Sea Story', a modern motor yacht, tragically sank in the Red Sea after encountering severe weather conditions. The boat, carrying 44 people including tourists and crew from 11 different countries, was on a six-day diving excursion from Port Ghalib to Hurghada. Unfortunately, high waves and strong winds overwhelmed the vessel, leading to its capsizing near Marsa Alam.

Rescue operations have recovered four bodies and saved 33 individuals, among whom are tourists from Belgium, Switzerland, and Egypt. Despite these efforts, eight passengers remain missing, including two Germans. The yacht had successfully passed a safety inspection earlier in March, making this incident even more distressing.

The tragedy unfolded rapidly, with the crew managing to send a distress signal shortly before the boat sank within minutes. This swift response enabled rescue teams to deploy helicopters, frigates, and divers in a bid to save as many lives as possible. Survivors have been temporarily housed in hotels in Marsa Alam, where they are receiving necessary support.
