Georgia's EU Aspirations in Turbulent Times

In Georgia, the capital city of Tbilisi has become a focal point of tension and unrest as thousands take to the streets to protest against the government's decision to delay EU accession negotiations until 2028. This decision, announced by Prime Minister Irakli Kobachidze, has sparked widespread discontent, particularly among pro-European citizens and opposition parties. The protests have been met with heavy-handed police tactics, including the use of water cannons, tear gas, and rubber bullets, leading to numerous arrests and injuries.
