Resignation of UK Transport Minister Louise Haigh

Louise Haigh, the UK Transport Minister and Labour MP for Sheffield, has resigned following a decade-old fraud conviction. The conviction stemmed from an incident in 2013 when she incorrectly reported her work mobile phone stolen after being mugged.

Although she later found the phone, she pleaded guilty to fraud by misrepresentation on legal advice, despite the error resulting in no personal gain. This led to a conditional discharge.
