Farmers Protest Against Mercosur Trade Agreement

Farmers in southwest Europe are rallying against the Mercosur trade agreement, which aims to establish a vast free trade zone involving Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. This agreement has sparked concerns among local agricultural communities about potential imports that may not meet acceptable standards.

The Baden Agricultural Association has voiced its criticism, highlighting the risks involved. A demonstration in Kehl, expected to draw around 150 participants and 100 tractors, will lead to the closure of the Europe Bridge, causing significant traffic disruptions.

Meanwhile, the French government is exploring ways to block the agreement by seeking support from at least three other EU countries.
