The shortage has led to an increased reliance on individuals without formal pedagogical training. This raises concerns about the quality of care and education provided to children. Experts stress that while temporary measures may be necessary in emergencies, a long-term reduction in the proportion of trained professionals is unacceptable. The recommended quota is 85% skilled workers per team, but the current national average has fallen to 72.5%.
The pressure on existing staff is immense. Many report feeling overburdened and consider leaving the profession. This is particularly true among younger employees, exacerbating the shortage. Despite efforts to fill gaps with untrained personnel, this approach often leads to decreased job satisfaction and increased stress for trained staff.
Some argue that under certain conditions, incorporating skilled individuals from related fields, such as occupational therapists or speech therapists, can be beneficial. However, it is crucial that these individuals receive basic training in child development and protection before joining daycare teams.
