Hamburg Explosion Sparks Major Fire and Evacuations

An explosion rocked the Hamburg district of Reitbrook on Monday afternoon, sparking a major fire that engulfed a house and spread to a nearby barn. The fire department launched an extensive operation, successfully evacuating four to five people to safety, although it remains unclear if others were inside. The presence of gas cylinders in the area heightened the danger, and a massive smoke column, reaching hundreds of meters high, prompted warnings via the NINA app. Residents in the affected regions, including Reitbrook, Fünfhausen, Over, and Klein-Rosenweide, were advised to avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed. Over 100 firefighters were deployed to contain the blaze, as strong winds carried the smoke away. While structural damage was significant, with parts of the building collapsing, there were no immediate reports of injuries among those evacuated.
