Concern Over Alcohol Poisoning in Fiji Resort Incident

Recent events at the Warwick Fiji resort have raised serious concerns regarding the safety of alcoholic beverages in tourist hotspots. Seven foreign guests, including four Australians, one American, and two expatriates residing in Fiji, found themselves hospitalized after consuming cocktails at the luxury establishment.

Ranging in age from 18 to 56, the individuals exhibited alarming symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and neurological issues. Initial treatment began at Sigatoka hospital before transferring them to Lautoka Hospital due to the severity of their conditions.

This incident has prompted an investigation by local authorities, drawing parallels to a previous tragedy in Laos where a group of tourists suffered from methanol poisoning, resulting in fatalities. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing assistance to its citizens involved in this distressing situation.
