Christmas trees, a cherished symbol of the holiday season, can secretly host a staggering number of insects. A study from the University of Bergen reveals that these trees may shelter up to 25,000 creatures, including bark lice, mites, and ticks.

While these insects thrive in their winter habitat, they become active in warm indoor environments but pose no real threat, as they quickly succumb to dry air. To minimize surprises, experts recommend giving the tree a good shake before bringing it inside.
