In Hesse, 147 healthcare fraud cases were documented in 2022, with an impressive clearance rate of 98 percent. An investigative team from the Central Office for Medical Business Crime has been diligently working to expose fraudulent activities involving doctors, clinics, and various healthcare institutions.

Close collaboration with health insurance companies has proven vital in these efforts. LKA President Andreas Röhrig has linked many of these fraudulent cases to organized crime, a sentiment echoed by Interior Minister Roman Poseck, who noted that such activities ultimately burden the contributors of the health system.

The investigations target a wide array of healthcare providers, including pharmacies, therapeutic facilities, and medical supply companies. The focus on uncovering billing fraud and corruption highlights the commitment to maintaining integrity within the healthcare sector and ensuring that contributors are not unfairly impacted.
