A Stormy New Year's Eve Awaits Berliners

As the year draws to a close, Berlin and Brandenburg brace for a tumultuous New Year's Eve. Forecasts predict stormy weather with southwestern winds and temperatures ranging from 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, accompanied by rain and localized fog.

The last weekend of 2024 will feature chilly conditions, with highs of 0 to 4 degrees and icy spots plunging to -1 to -6 degrees. While brief moments of sunshine may appear in southern Brandenburg, much of the region will be enveloped in dense fog.

Experts warn of severe storms and sub-zero temperatures starting January, with wind gusts reaching up to 90 km/h, posing risks to outdoor celebrations. Additionally, a shift in wind patterns is expected to usher in frigid polar air, leading to potential snow and hazardous conditions across infrastructure.

Residents are advised to stay vigilant and heed weather warnings as conditions may rapidly deteriorate.
