Syria's New Era of Security Reform

In a significant move towards change, Syria's interim government has announced plans to dismantle the security apparatus of the former regime. Anas Chattab, the new intelligence chief, emphasized how the Assad regime had used the security services as instruments of terror for over five decades, resorting to arbitrary killings, severe torture, and inhumane punishments.
