The CDU's proposal includes strict sanctions aimed at "work refusers," but this group constitutes only a small fraction of recipients. Even if the entirety of the 1.36% of sanction recipients had their standard rate of 563 euros and average housing costs of 651 euros per month eliminated, the resultant savings would be insufficient to fund proposed tax cuts.
In tandem with these reforms, the CDU envisions a boost to research and development, allocating 3.5% of the GDP annually towards these efforts until 2030. This initiative aims to reinforce economic growth, yet it maintains adherence to the debt brake rule.
Additionally, the CDU's "Agenda 2030" outlines a 2,000-euro monthly bonus for retirees who choose to continue working, alongside tax relief for other workers. However, this plan faces challenges, as taxes for certain retirees are expected to increase by 2025, with a significant number of retirees entering the taxation bracket.
Overall, while the CDU's ambitious agenda seeks economic revitalization, the effectiveness of its proposed citizen's income reform and tax strategies remains questionable amidst rising recipient numbers and associated costs.
