Netflix Surges Past 300 Million Users

Netflix has surpassed 300 million global users, marking a significant milestone with a record quarterly increase of nearly 19 million subscribers. This surge is largely attributed to the success of the second season of "Squid Game," which became the third most-watched series on the platform with 165.7 million views in just three and a half weeks. The streaming giant's revenue grew by 16% to $10.2 billion, while profits soared to $1.87 billion.

To bolster growth, Netflix is venturing into live sports broadcasts, including the Women's Football World Cups in 2027 and 2031. The company also plans to focus more on advertising-supported subscriptions, which align with its strategy to increase accessibility while maintaining profitability.

In response to this growth, Netflix has implemented price hikes in key markets like the USA, Canada, and Argentina. The company intends to stop disclosing user numbers, shifting focus to other metrics and revenue streams. These strategic changes position Netflix to potentially reach a market capitalization exceeding $400 billion, intensifying its competition with streaming rivals like Disney+ and Prime Video.
