EU's Defense Investment Dilemma

The European Union is grappling with the urgent need to increase defense spending in light of ongoing global tensions. However, the financing of such investments remains uncertain. Chancellor Olaf Scholz has ruled out joint EU debt for defense, advocating instead for a Germany-specific fund and reforming the national debt brake. Scholz has also criticized former US President Donald Trump's proposal to link military aid for Ukraine to access its resources, arguing that these should be preserved for rebuilding efforts.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans to reorganize the Ukrainian military into corps with divisions and brigades to enhance operational efficiency. In the realm of unmanned warfare, Ukraine's forces have conducted over 220 drone missions into Russia, deploying more than 3,500 weapons. They are also preparing to roll out ground robots with significant operational range and payload capacity.
