Ecological Damage in Grunewald: The Consequences of Illegal Tree Felling

The illegal felling of approximately 50 trees in Grunewald has sparked outrage among environmental officials. Environment Senator Ute Bonde condemned this act, which occurred at Drachenberg and involved chainsaws, calling it 'abhorrent.' These trees, aged up to 20 years, played a crucial role in preventing soil erosion and supporting the natural regeneration of the forest ecosystem.

Their removal has led to significant ecological destruction, impacting the forest floor's stability and facilitating the spread of invasive species like blackberries. Authorities have initiated investigations, suspecting that the incidents may be linked to previous illegal activities.
