Escalating Conflict in Syria: A Nation in Turmoil

The situation in Syria has intensified with fierce clashes occurring between security forces and supporters of the deposed leader Bashar al-Assad. Reports of massacres have emerged, particularly targeting civilians from the Alawite minority. This has raised significant concerns on both national and international fronts.

Interim President Ahmed al-Shara'a, a former rebel leader, has urged for a ceasefire amidst the escalating violence. The United Nations has also expressed deep concern over the situation. The conflict is primarily concentrated in the coastal regions, with curfews imposed in several cities to curb the unrest.

The intelligence chief has attributed the responsibility for the violence to the military and security entities of the former regime.
