Support for Sustainable Agriculture
Farmers in Thüringen have been awarded 42.9 million euros to enhance environmental protection on their lands. This funding supports 1,500 farms implementing measures that exceed legal requirements, such as organic farming and creating flowering strips.
The initiative aims to preserve valuable habitats, including those for endangered species like the European hamster. By compensating for lost income, the funds facilitate the adoption of sustainable practices across 71,000 hectares of arable and grassland.
These efforts are integral to the European Union's common agricultural policy, promoting a shift towards greener agricultural methods.
