A dramatic collision between the oil tanker Stena Immaculate and the cargo ship Solong has unfolded in the North Sea, off the coast of East Yorkshire, England. The incident, which occurred early on Monday morning, set both vessels ablaze. The British coast guard quickly mounted a large-scale rescue operation, deploying helicopters, aircraft, and fire-fighting ships. The Stena Immaculate, under a US flag, was transporting jet fuel for the US government, while the Solong, flying a Portuguese flag, carried containers of toxic sodium cyanide.
