Isar Aerospace, a Bavarian startup, has received approval to conduct a test flight of its Spectrum rocket from the Andøya spaceport in Norway. This marks a significant milestone as it represents the first attempt to launch an orbital rocket from continental Europe.
Although the inaugural flight was postponed due to adverse weather conditions, the venture holds promise for the European aerospace sector. The company's aspirations are backed by substantial private investments, amounting to over 400 million euros, which will enable it to potentially produce up to 40 launch vehicles annually.
The Spectrum rocket, measuring 28 meters in height, is tailored for deploying small to medium-sized satellites. Isar Aerospace aims to achieve a successful 30-second flight duration during its initial test, focusing on data collection to enhance its market position.
