Nationwide Tele-Doctor Initiative Launches
A new tele-doctor initiative is set to enhance medical support across Rhineland-Palatinate. With successful trials in Ludwigshafen and Trier, these centers will provide real-time medical expertise to emergency paramedics, particularly benefiting rural communities.
Equipped with tablets, paramedics can communicate with tele-doctors, though it's important to note that these professionals will not replace emergency physicians. All ambulances will feature advanced communication devices, allowing for text messages and video calls to emergency number 112. The estimated investment ranges from 1 to 4.2 million euros, with annual operating costs between 200,000 and 840,000 euros.
This initiative aims to address challenges posed by fewer physicians and vast distances, ensuring timely medical assistance.
