Easter Traffic Predictions: Expect Delays and Congestion

As the Easter holiday approaches, the ADAC forecasts significant traffic congestion on German motorways, particularly on Maundy Thursday. This day marks a peak travel period for both holidaymakers and commuters.

Anticipated jams will also occur on Good Friday morning and Easter Monday afternoon as travelers return home. Key routes leading to the North and Baltic Seas, as well as major cities like Berlin and Munich, will be heavily impacted.

Notably, the A1, A3, A7, A8, and A9 are identified as crucial corridors facing heavy traffic. The Norderelbbrücke on the A1 presents a bottleneck, with construction limiting heavy truck access, exacerbating delays.

Despite high occupancy rates in vacation rentals along the coasts, the overall travel volume is expected to be slightly lower than in previous years. Authorities advise travelers to plan accordingly to navigate the anticipated disruptions during this busy holiday period.
