The AfD's struggles are compounded by its classification as an extremist organization by the German domestic intelligence service, the Verfassungsschutz. This designation complicates their ability to gain influential roles within the Bundestag. Some argue that excluding the AfD from these positions might alienate voters who see the party as a legitimate opposition.
While the AfD continues to protest what it views as unfair treatment, calls arise to engage them in the parliamentary process to address and counteract their extreme views.
